Mountain West SGNA

Mountain West SGNA was first chartered in 1978. We are a professional nursing organization made up of nurses and associates (aids, assistants, technologists) that specialize in caring for patients with known or suspected gastrointestinal problems under going diagnostic or therapeutic treatments or procedures. Mountain West SGNA is affiliated with the national Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA). Our region includes Utah and Idaho. We also have affiliate members in other states.

In November 2006, Shirley Oberg, President Elect for Mountain West SGNA, turned in her resignation because she had accepted a job outside of the field of Endoscopy, and would no longer be eligible to participate as the President of our region. Shirley was to take over as President January 2007. The board met to discuss this as well as other agenda items for the upcoming year. By unanimous vote, the board voted to place Betty Jo Combe as President for the year 2007, and Anne Jackson to replace Betty Jo as Secretary for 2007. Eileen Canzonetti has joined the board as a member. We are still looking for anyone interested in joining the board or being more involved in our region. Dannie Smith has joined our board.

Beginning the 8th of January 2008, we will meet the first Tuesday of the Month from 6-7 pm in the Intermountain Medical Center Eccles Outpatient building, 2nd floor Conference room. (this is just off 53rd South and State Street in Salt Lake City). You can join us in person, or call in at 801-507-7799 Station 4690. We want input!

NEW BYLAWS have passed and been turned into National SGNA for approval. From now on, Officers of our local region will be chosen from within the board members. This way, we will always have someone "in the know" in charge. Because of this we would really like to increase our board numbers. Please consider joining us. You can join by phone if you'd prefer.

Remember - National SGNA conference will be in Salt Lake City in 2008! Get excited about joining SGNA and being involved in the local chapter! The more help we have, the less everyone has to do, and the better our chapter.
